We updated the Value Add Basketball All-Conference teams initially posted at Christmas. Note that we list the number of games played and started for each player, so you know if a particular game performance was included, and find all 4000+ players listed at www.valueaddbasketball.com.
The Southern Conference is extremely balanced this year, but in the Player of the Year race Malachi Smith is not only All-Conference but ranks as 3rd Team All-American based on ranking as the 12th most valuable player in the country in the Value Add rankings. In www.kenpom.com, his is in the top 3% in 3-point percentage (44%), ranked in 2-point percentage (55%), top 7% in free throw percentage (81%), top 3% in drawing fouls and top 1% in avoiding fouling, and ranked as the third best offensive player (127.5 offensive rating) of players with at least 28% of possessions. Hard to find a more complete offensive player than that.
