La Tech Women 37-12 Run Ends Luck of Irish - Face Tan for All-time Title

The Notre Dame 2018 Ladies appeared on their way to a fourth straight upset when they roared to a 13-3 run against the La Tech 1982 subs to take a 33-23 lead. (Games played using Value Add Basketball Game)

One reason we may have underestimated Notre Dame as our overall 11-seed is three of their starters have high endurance so they play the first 7 possessions often against the opponents subs before all starters take the court for the final 37 possessions.

However, when the starting five for the first ever champs took the floor they immediately responded with the most lopsided run we recall - a 37-12 burst that made it 60-45 and sent them to the title game against Pat Summitt's 1998 Tennessee.

Arike Ogunbowale had 10 points in the initial 13-3 run with fellow starters Marina Mabrey and Jackie Young on the court. However Angela Turner outscored her at the shooting guard position 19-9 the rest of the way and Pam Kelly took over late to seal the 76-66 win.

Notre Dame will face 2010 UConn for third place.
