The win moves the Dominican Republican and cliches at least second place and the playoffs. However, if Cuba upsets Florida in both of the last two games, then the Dominican Republic would join Puerto Rico and Texas in getting a bye to the championship pool. If Florida wins at least one game against Cuba then they win the South because of the head-to-head tie breaker for sweeping the Dominican Republic back in December after Chipper Jones homer.

The only way Florida could drop to third place and need to go through the playoff game is if Cuba not only swept Florida, but scored at least 16 runs in the sweep to give Venezuela the tie-breaker on runs allowed.
