Leiter Stars in Debut, Cubs Beat Reds

Mark Leiter's Statis-Pro debut looked every bit that of an ace, as he allowed only a hit and a walk through 6 innings, before leaving after a leadoff single in the 7th. The Cubs won I. Hitter friendly Great America Ball Park (11-63 homer vs average of 11-35).

Yan Gomes 3-run homer was on a deep drive that would have been caught in Wrigley.

In the second game in Wrigley, the Cubs rallied from four runs down to win 7-6 in 11 innings to draw even at .500 this year.

Cards for the star for each team are below the scoresheet. The Reds Noelvi Marte and Nick Solak. For the Cubs it was Leiter and Selya Suzuki.

The Dodgers have lived dangerously, winning all four of their actual games by a total of 5 runs - to get credit for 2-1 series wins for all four for the 8-4 record. If they had no rallied from five runs down in the 9th inning against the Brewers, they would be 6-6 and 7th place based on the 5.00 runs per game (fewest runs allowed is our tie-breaker).

Reminder Note: To play our own Statis-Pro Baseball games, click and print the batters cards here, then these pitchers' cards and finally the Statis-Pro rules which will have everything you need to play. Also note that we had one error in earlier notes - the adjustments listed at the bottom of some pitcher cards to the batters they face (changing a HR to Out or vice versa) must be used every time they pitch, not just in road games as previously listed. You may notice this season that our blogs are picked up by https://www.baseball-reference.com/ so when a player is mentioned you can link for their stats by clicking.
