In out 302nd all-time great Value Add Basketball Game UConn's 2023 champs set new records.
They scored 14 points in the first 6 possessions, starting with a 4-point possession in which they made the first of two free throws twice, grabbed both offensive rebounds, then took two more shots before adding a basket to finish their first possession with 4 points and 4 offensive rebounds.
Their second game record in an epic Big East brawl was drawing 28 on Georgetown 1989, leading to three Hoyas fouling out including starting center Alonso Mourning and point guard Charles Smith - their only two double digit scorers in the game.
The Huskies two centers combined for 20 rebounds in the epic battle if four bug men for the 72-59 win.
They will play either Kansas 2022 national champs or the Fab 5 from Michigan 1993 to be the latest champion. The other champions since the game was invented in 2019 are:
Bill Walton's UCLA, Paul Pierce's Kansas, Pat Summit's Lady Vols and in the tournament of 2022 teams that did not get to play due to Covid, Creighton.
Our second batch of our second batch of all-time women's teams including Caitlin Clark, whose card we rank as the 8th greatest of all-time going back to 1982, will start after this final 4. Two other UConn teams are the top two seeds in that tournament, including the 2002 Women's champs.
