As shown in our all-time great team Value Add Basketball Game tracker, only 18 undefeated teams remain after 290 all-time games. This includes the UCLA 1972 team that won the tournament of the first 96 tams we created, the Kansas 1997 team that won the 2nd tournament when we created more teams after letting schools have more than one team per century, and finally the 16 newer teams that were created to bring the total to 234 teams.
The two highest ranked teams still alive in our current Sweet 16 are UConn 2023 ranked 7th all-time, and UConn 1996 ranked 14th all-time. The next best undefeated are the 1966 Western Kentucky team at 24th after a 4-0 start, and the biggest surprise team still alive are Wes Unseld's 1968 Louisville team ranked 137th of the 234 teams but still alive and taking on Russell Westbrooks' 2008 UCLA team next.
