WNBA & MLB Drawing TV Millions - Double Header Yankees-Braves & Colorado St.-Stanford

More than 3,100 unique visitors yesterday to this page, as readers split between Classic Statis-Pro Baseball Game and the last three women's debut games in the Value Add Basketball Game.

More than 2 million fans are watching big regular games featuring Caitlin Clark and just as more than 2 million are watching the big regular season MLB games such as Yankees Astros.

We decided to kick off July 4 by trying a MLB Baseball-Women's College Basketball Game.

Gerrit Cole and Aaron Judge will travel back to 1914 to visit the Braves first home in Boston, then the last great mid-major era team Colorado State from 1999 to play the Stanford 2012 women's team.

In our first baseball-basketball doubleheader:

The 1999 Colorado State women pulled off a stunningly easy 81-58 upset of 2012 Stanford. Becky Hammon (23 points) hit a 3-pointer on a breakaway to make it 32-24 with 2:30 to play in the half and Stanford could not get the offense going. The biggest surprise was Katie Cronin grabbing 17 rebounds despite Stanford's great duo of Nnemkadi Ogwumike and Chiney Ogwumike having better rebounding cards. Colorado shot all the way up from 49th to 23rd in our all-time rankings, while Stanford dropped from 43rd to 58th of the 64 all-time great teams.

In the baseball game, the dead balls of 1914 held the 2022 Yankees in check, as both Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Andrew Benintendi had deep drives that would have been out during almost any park and era (a 26 and 23 of the 11-88 random number) but dead ball years only allow a homer on 11-18. The second game will be played in the modern era where deep drives go out on an 11-78. With those balls caught, Bill James went all 9 innings (as pitchers usually did the) allowing only five hits for a 1-0 win. Besides the two deep drives, the Yankees also had a chance when Aaron Judge doubled in the 4th inning to put runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs, but they could not score. The games only run scored when Johnny Evers singled in the seventh, stole 2nd base, and Charles Schmidt singled him home for the 1-0 win. The tough luck loser was Gerrit Cole, despite allowing only four hits, walking none, and striking out in seven innings. When one more game is played, half of our 60 all-time great baseball teams will have played game.

Here we list the starting line-ups for the baseball teams on the left, with all 9 batters and the Game 1 starting pitcher. On the right are all 5 starters and 5 reserves for both Stanford and Colorado State.
