Hack Wilson (HR Range 35-38) Homers to Give Cubs Split after Cards Waste Musial Leadoff Double

 The 1929 Chicago Cubs won 3-2 to earn a split when Hack Wilson homered in the bottom of the 8th inning. Wilson has one of the best hitting cards in the game with a 35-38 home run range before his 41-43 DEEP drive that can also be a homer, though usually not in the deadball era in which he played.

Both he and the 1942 Cardinals Stan Musial, reached three of four times and Musial led off the top of the 8th with a double but the Cardinals could not bring him home.  The Cardinals had won the first game 2-0 so the season opener series ended up as a split.
