Eckersley Strikes Out Side to Earn Save in 5-2 Win Over 2019-21 Dodgers

Dennis Eckersley, one of the most dominant pitchers of all time who did have the bad side of the highlights when a hobbling Dodger Kirk Gibson hit a homer off him in 1988, this time retired the Dodgers of 2019-21 on three straight strikeouts for a 5-2 win.

We use the three year combined stats since the 2020 World Series season was Covid shortened.

Carney Lansford delivered a 3-run homer on the A's powerful team that included power hitters Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire hitting before and after him, with the greatest lead off man of all time Rickey Henderson starting things off.

The Dodgers won the first game 4-2 to make this a split.
