Only Patrick Corbin's pb 2-8 (great) with a ton of hits allowed (11-26, while 11-23 is average) can allow nine hits in 6 innings without allowing a run.
The Cubs actually outfit the Nats 11-9 but the Nats won the game 8-0 counting as a 3-game sweep. Contreras hit a 3-run homer to cap a 5-run first, but the Cubs could not hold the 5-run lead for sweep credit, settling for a 6-3 win and credit for winning 2 games to 1.
The Nats win the series 4 games to 2 and the Cubs drop further back into last place (10th).
In the final series of this round, the Reds need to go at least 3-3 to stay in the "for now" last playoff spot, but if they go 4-2 the would create a 5-way tie for 2nd place at 27-21. If they go 2-4, they would create a 4-way tie for the last playoff spot at 25-23.
If the Brewers go 5-1 they would tie the Mets for 1st place, but they just need to go at least 3-3 to stay in second.
