Just like Tuesday's all-Star Game, our next Statis-Pro baseball game features Paul Skenes vs. Aaron Judge - when the Pittsburgh Pirates host the NY Yankees. The cards actually appear in sheet form on the free Statis-Pro game, but above are the numbers from the sheets put on the traditional Statis-Pro baseball cards.
While every fan knows Judge's incredible numbers, the following facts about Skenes may make him even more impressive.
1) Skenes is the first pitcher in baseball history to start the All-Star Game his first two seasons.
2) Only four pitchers in the history of the game have career ERAs of lower than 2.00. Here they are with their last season pitched:
1877 Louisville Grays - Jim Deulin, 1.90 career ERA
1910 Cleveland Naps - Addie Joss, 1.89 career ERA
1917 Boston Braves - Ed Walsh, 1.84 career ERA
2025 Pittsburgh Pirates - Paul Skenes, 1.98 career ERA
Note we project the card to produce about a 2.40 ERA, but so far he has actually been much better than that both seasons.
Yankees L; Skenes 2-0, Pirates 2-4 Overall
Our Statis-Pro Pittsburgh Pirates improved 2-4 by evening their series against the NY Yankees, breaking a scoreless tie in the 6th inning on a rare Z-Play when the Yankees two All-Stars Jazz Chisholm and Aaron Judge, collided on a Heliot Ramos drive to right center that then fell in for a double.
This was the first injury of our Statis-Pro season on the Z-play charts really used to force the occasional substitution to use bench player cards. After the two All-Stars left the game, Jasson Domínguez's card was used for the rest of the game and he singled and threw out a runner at home from right field.
The Pirates are 0-4 except for the two games in which All-Star starter Skenes have been wins as his 6 shutout innings in this game made him 2-0 and lowered his Statis-Pro ERA to 2.25, compared to his card projected to yield about a 2.40 ERA and a little higher than his career 1.98 ERA. As shown in the photo below, the Pirates tacked on runs in the 7th and 8th for the 4-0 win. Here is the box score.
