Royals Speed Draws Consecutive Balks; Marlins Replace Pirates in Our Season

Before getting to the Brewers, we took a screen shot of their line-up right below the Miami Marlins Line-up  because we decided to have them replace the Pittsburgh Pirates as our final of 10 teams moving forward. The first batter card shown that was inserted into the sheet is the Marlins All-Star Kyle Stowers with a nice home run range of 26-32 as reflected in the team sheets in the free Statis-Pro baseball game.

The other card is one of most interesting cards. One reason we play our games with almost every team is to make sure we haven't missed any player, and we had missed the Brewers 2nd baseman 3rd baseman Caleb Durbin. Therefore we had to calculated his card and how interesting. If you look through the hits on his card he looks like one of the worst player cards ever with hits only going from 11-21 with only the final two numbers being homers. However, it actually turns into a good card if you keep reading. He is one of the rare players to strike out so little that he only has one strikeout number on his card (25) and that also allows him to be a Hit & Run 2 if Yelich gets on before him. Then he has a great walk range of 26-36, more than double the normal numbers, but the most amazing thing on this card is he has even more hit by pitch than walks, with an incredible 37-48 and I see he does lead the league in Hit by Pitch. He also is a Sac BB on laying down a bunt, which is also important because with his combo of also being an OBR (on base running) he is allowed to try to bunt for a hit.

Consecutive Balks Fuel Royals Comeback

Despite a homer and two singles by Rhys Hoskins, the Statis-Pro Milwaukee Brewers haven't caught the fire of the real MLB Brewers in a 2-4 start. They had a 6-5 lead going into the 9th, but their top relievers were used in Game 1 of  the 2-game series and the could not hold the lead as the two OBR A/SP AA at the top of the line-up against the Brewers only remaining PB 2-7 Thomas Pannone.

Maikel Garcia led off the 9th with a single. Despite his AA Speed, he could not get a jump for a steal, but must have rattled Pannon, who then committed the first conservative balks in all my years of playing Statis-Pro baseball.  The action is on Pannon's card 58% of the time (on dice roll 2-7 but not 8-12) and if on his card then he only has a chance of a balk on a 26, leaving a 0.9 percent chance of the balk number, and then the next card has to say "yes" rather than "no" for it to be a balk, which lowers the chance to 0.3  percent. The chance of that happening twice in a row is therefore 0.03 x 0.03 for a chance of 0.09% chance of the back-to-back balks that got Garcia to third based.

With the infield drawn in Bobby Witt Jr. then hit a grounder to short, and Garcia beat the fielders choice throw home for a fielders choice RBI and our game was tied 6-6.

Witt then stole second, went to third on a grounder to second base, and then scored on an RBI infield single to third base to make it 7-6 Royals which held up.

This makes 9 of our 10 AL vs. NL two game series a split so far with only the St. Louis Cardinals winning both of their interleague games to be a surprise 4-2 and tied with the Cubs and Mets in our 6-team NL East. The Marlins inherit the Pirates 2-4 record for their record to be tied with the Brewers, while the Phillies are 3-3.

Half of our NL West is also tied at 4-2, with the Dodgers, Padres and then the team that has played as expected rather than as they've actually played this season, the Braves. Cincinnati is 3-3, and the two bottom NL West teams are our final two that need to play their 2nd interleague game and 6th game overall, the 1-4 Giants and 0-5 Diamondbacks. Since the NL is 10-8 against the AL with only those two remaining, if either of those teams win then the NL wins the overall interleague standings, but if they both lose then the leagues will each finish 10-10 as they go back to playing their other division foes.
