Remember 1969 when New York teams upset Baltimore teams on the way to titles? The Mets did the same thing in our game by upsetting our first place Orioles in the first game of a 2-game series, though the Orioles did rebound to win the nightcap. In 1969 the Mets and Tom Seaver stunned the Orioles, Joe Namath and the New York Jets stunned the Colts. The New York Knicks stunned the top ranked Baltimore Bullets in the semifinals four games to one.
In a 2-game series between our top two Statis-Pro baseball teams, The Mets won a 2-1 pitchers' duel in Game 1, then the Orioles rallied last for a 8-6 win in the nightcap.
The Mets now have the best record on the 12 teams in our league with a 15-5 mark, but since they were on of three surprise teams we added late they are only eligible for a wild card spot, so they would be our 3rd seed now.The 3 Divisional leaders from either our East, South or West 3-team pods are eligible before the two byes. Baltimore leads the East with an 18-8 mark for a 0.692 winning percentage for the No. 1 seed, while the Astros lead the South with a 17-9 or 0.654 winning percentage for the 2-seed. Seattle is the third pod leader with a 15-8 record for a 0.652 wining percentage to land the 4th seed behind the Mets.
So our Statis-Pro playoffs if our season ended today would still be the Yankees vs. Mets with the winner getting the Astros, and the Twins vs. Mariners with the winner getting the Orioles.
Here are our complete records so far.
