Jordan, UNC Shock 1962 Cincy, 68-54

For the 1st time since Michael Jordan's 1982 UNC team lost to Bill Walton's 1972 UCLA in the title game of our first 96-team tournament (the 2 actually played a casual alumni game), he is back to face another great big line-up in Cincinnati 1962.

Here was the preview

Our Preview noted that this is two if the best defensive teams in the game, and Cincy holds UNC without a dunk range, while UNC does one better to give Cincy a 51-53 Stop range.

Results to follow: We had Cincinnati as an 8-point favorite as one of the most dominant rebounding teams ever against a UNC team that was only average on the boards. The Bearcats did win the boards 42-30, but UNC started the game on a 10-0 run and never looked back, shutting Cincy down for a 68-54 win to advance to the all-time Elite 8 against the undefeated Indiana 1976 team.
