Schwarber's 3 homers in 4 at bats put Phillies 1 win from 2026 title

Kyle Schwarber made it three homers in four at-bats, counting the game-winner to end the 2-1 win over the Dodgers in the previous game, as the Phillies crushed Tampa Bay 8-3 to move within one win of their first Statis-Pro World Series title.

Schwarber started the scoring with a two-run double in the first inning, then homered in the third and fifth to finish with five RBI. The win puts Philadelphia in control of the three-team championship pool.

Phillies One Win Away

The path from here is much simpler than it looks: Philadelphia needs one more win to become champion. Tampa Bay and the Dodgers need to keep winning to stay alive. Tampa is the only team that does not control their destiny - the also need the Dodgers to beat the Phillies for them to stay alive.

Tampa Bay plays at Los Angeles next, with former Met Freddy Peralta facing Yoshinobu Yamamoto.

  • If the Dodgers beat Tampa, the Rays are eliminated. The Dodgers would then need to beat Philadelphia and beat the Phillies again in a winner-take-all finale for the title.
  • If Tampa beats the Dodgers, Los Angeles is eliminated. Tampa would then need the Dodgers to beat the Phillies in the pool finale to keep them from clinching, and then Tampa would also need to beat Philadelphia twice in a row to win the title.
  • Any Philadelphia win ends the season with the Phillies as champions.

So Philadelphia is one win away, while either challenger must run the table from here to see which two teams are added to the annual update of Statis-Pro champions and runners-up.

Perfect No More! Schwarber HR Ends Dodgers Hopes of 4-4-4 Playoff Sweep

The Los Angeles Dodgers barely survived two close games against the Boston Red Sox in the semifinal pool to sweep their second straight round in the Statis-Pro playoffs with a chance to go 12-0 if they could Sweep the World Series as well.

It look promising when they put together three straight first inning singles capped by another huge RBI by Freddie Freeman to take a 1-0 lead. However, an unearned run off Tarik Skubal in the 5th inning tied it and it was still 1-1 going into the 9th when Edwin Diaz relieved.

Schwarber had struck out on fat pitches just a couple of numbers from his home run range in the last game and this one, but on this one he did not miss, drilling a ball DEEP in Dodger Stadium, which is quite the hitters park now with a 11-57 homer range on a deep drive - and it was a 47 to barely get out with the game-winner.

The first of the three teams to win 4 games wins the title:

Philadelphia 2 wins
LA Dodgers 0 wins
Tampa 0 wins

Next:

Philadelphia at Tampa

LA Dodgers at Philadelphia (if Philadelphia goes 4-0, they sweep; the other team with the better run differential is runner-up)

If necessary:

Tampa at LA Dodgers
LA Dodgers at Tampa

If one team is 3-1 then another team would be 3-1 or 2-2, then the two continue to play each other until one has 4 wins to claim the World Series.

If all 3 teams are 2-2, then seed them 1 through 3 based on run differential and play in the following order until one team has 4 wins (if they are tied in run differential then use fewest runs allowed and if that is tied then record for all rounds is 3rd tie breaker and run differential for whole tournament is 4th tiebreaker and finally highest power ranking in actual MLB play).

#2 at #1
#3 at #1
#3 at #2
#1 at #2

At that point, 10 games would have been played, so one team would have to have 4 wins to take the title.
Here is the box score.

Statis-Pro Baseball Team Sheets Cleaned Up for all 30 Teams

The Statis-Pro batter and pitcher cards are now all on the same sheet, so you can print all of the players for any of the 30 teams on one sheet of paper from one Google Sheet. The example printouts from the three teams in one pool—Philadelphia, San Diego and Baltimore—are at the bottom of this sheet for our next series. You can play your own Statis-Pro Baseball games for free.

But first, we did one final check for any players on the wrong roster and caught just over 50 players who needed to be moved, and they have been updated. We show all the players we just moved below, rank how big a pickup each player was for the new team, and then rank the 15 teams we believe improved the most and were hurt the most by these moves.

The following are the batters cards we just moved ranked with their new team and the team they came from followed by their ranking. The Line-up showswhere they hit in their new line-up, and if they are coming off the bench the are a "2." For fielding a CD5 is a near gold glove level player while a CD1 is a very poor defender. We also now have the actual homerun range on the batter cards - while the other columns just show the last number in each range on the Random Number card of 11-88.

We also added the complete strikeout ranges for all pitchers, which is key because only numbers lower than that range canbe hits starting with 11 and ended one number below the bottom of the strikeout range (there is one balk number between the hits and strikeouts.

Below are the print of those three teams. The match-up of San Diego and Philadelphia is the toughest set up as they were already good teams and were two of the most improved through these final player changes. If you look at the three printouts below, you will see that we already marked which pitchers were already used in the first game each team played against the Phillies.

The Phillies ace Cristopher Sanchez (PB 2-9) shut down the Padres for eight innings, so they need to use their No. 4 starter Aaron Nola (PB 4-7 - average). In both games the Padres used their two top relievers to tied down the wins, so they cannot pitch in the 2nd game against either team.

The Padres also used their ace Michael King (PB 2-7) but he did not last as long in the 2-1 extra inning loss and they not only used their twop two relievers but three other relievers so do not have as many pitchers to use in the big match-up between the two hot teams.

The Orioles are actually in the best pitching match-up when they play the Phillies. They used Trevor Rogers (PB 2-6) who is now their No. 4 pitcher, so they get to use their ace Kyle Bradish in their game against the Phillies, and because the fell behind 4-1 early in that game, they did not use any of their top nine relievers so could have a big edge.

The Phillies were at home in both game 1s, so will play these two on the road. If they win both games then they win the pool with a 4-0 record. If the lose both to finish 2-2, then the other two teams will play twice and if one of them wins both games they would win the divisions with a 3-1 record and if all three teams finished 2-2 then it comes to run differential. If the Phillies split to finish 3-1, then they team that beat them would need to sweep the other team to also finish 3-1 and then it would come to run differential.

The Phillies advance.

The Phillies became the 7th team to win a 3-team pool and advance, leaving only two spots to be filled. Through seven innings of their last game, against Baltimore, the Phillies had outscored their opponents 14-3 in 35 innings of lock down defense and let 3-0.

However, the end was wild as Baltimore's Carlos Narvaez hit a 3-run homer to tie the game 3-3 i the 8th inning.  In the top of the 10th Bryce Harper hit a 2-run homer to make it 5-3, but Tyler O'Neill countered with a 2-run homer in the bottom of the 10th to tie it again 5-5. However Justin Crawford's 2-run double in the top of the 11th started a 4-run rally to advance 9-5.

In the 7-0 win over San Diego batting champ Luiz Arraez went 4 of 4 and Kyle Schwarber hit a 2-run homer. The Phillies 22-7 run differential is by far the 2nd best of the 27 teams we have played in the game, trailing only the Los Angeles Dodgers who outscored opponents 35-11 for a +24 run differential to be the only other team to go 4-0. All pool play results is tracked here.

As the winner of Pool H, Philadelphia awaits the winners of the only two remaining  pools. Arizona is 2-0 in Pool G and can clinch if they beat Detroit next and Cleveland is also in that divsion. In Pool I, Minnesota is 2-0 so has the edige, but they only won 4-3 and 6-4 so if they lose their last 2 it would be almost impossible to win the tiebreaking run difference over Pittsburgh or Seattle.

Wander Franco's New Statis-Pro Card for Tampa the Biggest in our Update of All Batters After Trade Deadline

Here are the updated Statis-Pro baseball batters based on their teams after the trade deadline.

Wander Franco toward the bottom being added to Toronto seems to be by far the biggest card aquations in the game. If you look at the line-up spot by the player, most are reserves in our game (10) and only one other hits higher than 6th.

We must have just had Franco's card drop off somehow because while he had a little bit of a sophomore slump last year in playing about half the season after being third in rookie of the year last year, he certainly should have still had a projected card all along, but now as an All-Star at just 22 years old he makes Tampa a contender.

Franco fixes the Rays had very poor fielding at shortstop in beating the Astros and Reds in their pool to advance, and had not speed at all, so to add him to the top of the line-up and fielding the key shortstop positions makes them look like realy contenders in our game.

We went through and updated every Statis-Pro pitcher's team as well and covered that in our previous blog.

Statis-Pro Predictor? Red Sox Crushing Braves Seemed Strange June 7 but ...

The biggest shocker in our Statis-Pro Baseball pool play so far came in our early June game when the Boston Red Sox—who, in real life, were beginning a four-game losing streak that dropped them to 27-39—stunned the Atlanta Braves, who were 45-21 at the time.

Statistically, an upset between teams with those records would be expected about once in every four-game series. When it happens, though, it makes you wonder whether the calculations on the cards are off—or whether it was simply a great day for the underdog.

The amazing thing is that since then, the real season has played out much like our Statis-Pro cards. The Red Sox have gone 22-9, while the Braves have gone 11-20. All that being side, Chris Sales' card projects to have an outstanding 3.19 ERA or FIPS, and in fact he is even better this year hovering around a 2.00 ERA so it is true even his card is not truly as great as he is.

The Braves did rally in their second pool game for a 4-2 win over the Rangers. With the Red Sox and Braves two of only four teams with four strong starting pitchers (all rated PB 2-7 or better), and with the Braves added benefit of having preserved their bullpen in the 8-1 loss to Boston, they still have a strong chance to emerge from the pool.

The other two teams are the Blue Jays and then the ridiculous Dodgers, with all four pitchers at least a PB 2-8 to make them seem unbeatable at times.

The second Red Sox-Braves matchup should determine which team advances, featuring an outstanding pitching duel between PB 2-7 starters Reynaldo López for the Braves and Ranger Suárez for the Red Sox.

If the Braves win that game and both teams finish 3-1 while the Rangers end up 0-4, the tiebreaker would come down to run differential. In that scenario, Atlanta would likely need to take full advantage of its final pitching matchup against Texas, with PB 2-7 Spencer Strider facing the Rangers' below-average (PB 2'-6) Jordan Montgomery. The Red Sox currently sit at +7 in run differential thanks to their 8-1 victory, while the Braves are at -5 through two games.

For those who do not play the Statis-Pro baseball game you should start with this free version, but the pitcher's PB is the key that makes us love the game more than any others. This is the range where the pitcher controls the action without allowing that chance for anything more than a single. A PB 2-9 is the best -an All-Star - and on a two-sided dice roll of 2-9 he controls the action, while 10-12 rolls put the action on the batters card. The other strong pitchers are 2-8 or 2-7, while the middle 30% of all pitchers control the action on PB 4-7, then the below average pitchers are 2-6, 2-5 or the weakest 2-4.

Here is a look at the batter and pitcher cards for both teams.

Dodgers Beat Mets 4 Games to 1 to Get Rematch with Mariners in Statis-Pro World Series

The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the New York Mets four games to one to advance to our 2025 Statis-Pro World Series championship against the Seattle Mariners. This is our first "double" Statis-Pro World Series in which our Milwaukee Commissioner who uses the sheets of projected player cards in the free Statis-Pro game.  The starting pitchers and line-up using the traditional cards are above, while the reserves and bullpen are at the bottom of the blog.

TRADITIONAL STATIS-PRO CARDS. Below those links are the traditional cards used by the Montana manager. They are from the previous season, so his teams get the current rosters but based on the previous seasons stats. Cards like these can be purchased by googling Statis-Pro baseball cards. Our suggestion is to order players cards like those pictured below along with a full Statis-Pro card game including charts and Fast Action Cards. however, the free game played in Milwaukee allows those new to Statis-Pro to try out the game for free using dice and the blog with instructions in order to get used to the game. The pictures of the corresponding Seattle Mariners traditional cards appear in this blog.

PROJECTED PLAYER SHEETS. We list the key figures from each of those projected cards, including the position played, the range of the Random Numbers from 11-88 on which the player hits a home run, how good he is at stealing bases (AAA best ever, E never steals). For pitchers the best number is a PB  2-9, meaning the pitcher keeps the action on his card on 5 of 6 batters (only a roll of 10-12 gives the batter a chance at an extra base hit), then his strikeout range, the maximum number of innings he can pitch, and the projected ERA based on his card.

The Commissioners rotate leagues each year, and this year it was the Milwaukee Commissioner using the free projected player sheets who played off the NL with the Dodgers prevailing, while the Montana commissioner playing with traditional Statis-Pro cards played off the AL with the Mariners prevailing. Last year they each played the other league, but the same two teams won. Until this year the two Commissioners played the home games of their league for the year, so the Montana Commissioner played the two games in Seattle, and then the Milwaukee Commissioner the two in Los Angeles, and the Dodgers won all four to get the sweep. This year they will both play the entire series in an "alternate reality" so we could have one champion winning both World Series or we could have a split.

In our final regular season standings with the playoff bracket, the Dodgers were favored as the only .600 team in our Statis-Pro season at 26-16 (0.619) without even playing the last place team in their final six games since they had clinched, but the Mariners barely made the playoffs at 26-24. The following bracket shows how many games each team won in each series.
