Statis-Pro Pitchers Cards Hopefully Posted Tonight

 We suddenly had hundreds of clicks tonight after posting the Statis-Pro Batters cards, and are working to hopefully complete the pitchers' cards so you will have everything you need to play games. These will all just be in sheets form, and will later be merged into player cards.

Statis-Pro Batters for all 30 MLB Teams Based on 2022 Projected Batting, Fielding and Baserunning Stats

We set up a column to the far right to number the batting order you choose 1 through 9 so you can export this sheet to excel, sort it, and play a game keeping them in order. The full player cards will be produced later.

Here is the key to each column.

Name

Team

Position - we are only listing primary position this year, but players can also play other positions.

C - if plays 1B add 1 to the E rating and subtract 1 from the CD rating.

1B - if plays 3b double the E rating and subtract 1 from the CD rating.

2B - if plays SS or 3B double the E rating and subtract 1 from the CD rating.

3B - if plays 2B or SS double the E rating and subtract 1 from the CD rating.

SS - can play 2B or 3B with no adjustments.

LF - can play RF. If players CD add 1 to Error and subtract one from CD.

CF - can play RF or LF with no adjustment.

RF - can play LF. If players CD add 1 to Error and subtract one from CD.

We generally upgrade all gold glove nominees from the past couple of seasons to CD5, but have not made those adjustments yet.

OBR/SP

The first letter refers to the On Base Running (OBR) used on charts to try to take and extra base or beat out a double play. The SP is used on the steal chart.

H&R - Hit & Run is usually 0, but a very good contact hitter could be a 1 or 2 and choose to use that on the hit and run chart with a runner on 1st base or 1st and 3rd.

1B - on Random Numbers, from an 11 to the first boxed number is a single.

2B - any number higher than the single (1b) number to the number listed is a double.

3B - if the number is higher than the 2B number then that is a triple, but for many numbers it is the same - meaning he cannot hit a double.

HR  - the red number is a Home Run.

Deep - the next number is a deep drive that required a new 11-88 random number, and requires looking up the DEEP chart for the ballpark of the home team to yield either a home run or a deep drive with runners advancing.

K - the batter strikes out.

W - the batter walks.

HPB - the batter is hit by a pitch and goes to 1st base.

Out - all the numbers higher than the HPB number up to 88 are an out.

OPS - the On-Base percentage is provided just to give an idea of how good the player is overall when setting your line-up for the team with better hitters first.

Cht - is used on out charts to indicate if the player is a right-handed power hitter (RP), normal or non-power hitter (RN), switch power (SP) or normal (SN) and finally left-handed power (LP) or normal (LN).  If none of these six are listed, assume an SN or if there is just a P assuming it is an SP.

vs. LHP/RHP - you only need to refer to these numbers if an 11-14 (normally a hit) or 85-88 (normally an out) is drawn on either the batter or pitcher card. The number to the left of the dash indicates an adjustment if the batter is facing a left-handed pitcher, so Ozzie Albies kills left handed pitching and the 85 / indicates that any result of 85-88 changes from an out to a single with runners advancing two bases. On the other hand, he does not hit as well against right-handed pitching so the number to the right of the dash, 12, indicates an 11-12 is changed form a single to a strikeout if he is facing a right-handed hitter.

The two columns to the right are provided just add suggested batting order from 1-9 against left-handed starting pitchers and the next column against right-handed pitcher.

Ball Park Factors Updated for 2022 Statis-Pro Season

The following are the updated ballpark factors to use if playing Statis-Pro games with 2022 projected cards. When the random number on a Statis-Pro Batters card results in DEEP, then a second Random Number is drawn and looked up based on the home team on the chart below.

Note that last year the cards were set up so that a DEEP drive had a 50-50 change of being a homer, however, this year the cards are set up so a DEEP drive only has a 1 in 3 chance on average (an 11-35 is a homer in a neutral park, and 36-88 is a deep drive caught but if anyone is on base they advance. The best for a pitcher is Oakland, where only an 11 is a home run and 12-88 is caught. The best hitters' park in Colorado, where an 11-87 is a home run, and only an 88 is caught for an out.

Platoon Adjustment for all MLB Batters on Rosters (Statis-Pro Game)

 The following is a list of all batters currently on MLB batters and the adjustment in the free Statis-Pro baseball game when they bat against a left-handed or right-handed pitcher. A detailed explanation and extra cards occurs in the previous post.

Keep in mind the best adjustment is an 85, which means a batter converts an 85-88 from an out to a single with runners advancing two bases. The next best is 86 (means 86-88) etc. The worst adjustment is 14 (meaning 11-14 turns a singled to a strikeout) while 13 is second best at 11-13, etc. If no number appears before a / it means no adjustment either way against LHP, and if no number appears after it, that means no adjustment against RHP.

Platoon Left/Right Batting for MLB Players Not on Rosters

With the strike and work, we have not yet produced the updated free 2022 Statis-Pro Baseball cards based on projected stats. The first step with batters is actually the last thing on the card, the platoon adjustment. These are based on how much better or worse a player does against left-handed and right handed pitchers then he does overall.

If you are new to Statis-Pro, each at bat consists in starting with a dice roll or card flip from 2-12 that determines whether it is on the pitcher's card or the batter's card. On either card, hits are the lower numbers between 11-88 on the next card/ or dice. Numbers from 11-18 are almost always hits, and many numbers between 21-28 are hits and a few in the 30s. Higher numbers are usually outs or strikeouts, with some walks in between. An out occurs on almost all rolls in the 80s (from 11-88).

For an example of how this works, take the example of Nick Ahmed in the seventh row below.  We base each players' adjustment on whichever season he had the most plate appearances between 2019 and 2021.

That year in 625 plate appearances, Ahmed's OPS was .752. However, he killed left-handed pitching with an OPS of .933, which gives him the maximum adjustment of "85 / 12" to the left of the diagonal, meaning against left-handed pitching a random number of 85-88 (whether on his card or the pitcher's card facing him) is changed from an Out to a single with any runners on base advancing two bases. 

On the flip side, his OPS was 60 points lower against right-handed pitchers then overall (.691 vs. .752) therefore the 12 to the right of the diagonal "85 / 12" means if facing a right-handed pitcher an 11 or 12 is changed from a hit to a strikeout.

The next blog will list players on rosters at the start of the 2022 season, but these are here because some of these players are just injured and will return to a roster. We also have the standard adjustment for any new players. A new left-handed batter strikes out on an 11 or 12 against a LHP, but gets a hit on an 88 against a RHP.  A right-handed batter gets a hit on an 88 against a LHP, but strikes out on an 11 against a RHP. A new switch-hitter (sometimes listed a "B" for both) bats the same against both LHP and RHP. Our next blog will list these adjustments for players actually on rosters.

Keep in mind that for the low numbers the number represents the numbers turned into strikeouts from 11 up to that number. So 11 is just 11, but 12 means 11-12, 13 means 11-13 and the worst adjustment for a batter is 14 which means he strikes out against 11-14. 

Likewise, the high numbers indicated the adjustment to a single and runner advances two bases from that number up to 88. So 88 means the batter gets a single with runners advancing two bases only on an 88, but 87 means 87-88, 86 means 86-88 and 85 means 85-88.

The Value Add Basketball National Player of the Year battle was one of our closest ever, with Iowa's Keegan Murray nudging out Kentucky's Oscar Tshiebwe with respective Value Adds of 12.31 to 12.13. That means both team would be expected to be 12 points worse if either of those MVPs had to miss a game - so turning a 6-point win into a 6-point loss.

Our Final 1st Team All-Americans calculate as:

• 2-SG, Terrell Brown #23, Washington, 10.29, 6'3".

Note, both Ochai Abdaji of Kansas and Wendell Moore of Duke are just outside the All-American list and could play themselves back into it. Abdaji rated as an All-American until having a bit of an off tournament.
