Mets Face Old Ace Scherzer and Blue Jays in Statis-Pro

Update Results:

After homers and triples in the first few innings for both teams, it came down to the speed of the Blue Jays pinch runner Myles Straw, who stole 2nd and 3rd base before scoring the game-winning run in the 8th inning of a 3-2 win over the Mets.

Pete Alonso benefitted from the in season "add 2 HR" which turned the 33 random number from a strikeout to. Deep drive, and then a 16 was easily within the Rogers Centre 11-43 home run range on deep drives.

In the bottom of the first  Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Led off with a home to make ot 1-1, and Anthony Santander would have had a deep drive to potentially start the game with back to back homers except that his minus 2 home runs adjustment changed the 32 from a deep drive to a strike out. The Cubs would need to beat deGrom in the next game to be the only NL team to start 4-1 besides the Padres, but each NL team's 6th start will feature their ace against an AL team's No. 4 starter to flip the Game 5 advantage the AL teams had.

Below was the pregame:

The Mets Tylor Megill is still on the 15-day DL and hasn't pitched in several weeks, while their former ace Max Scherzer has only pitched once for the Blue Jays before returning from DL to get in a few recent starts - but his Statis-Pro card is the best on the Blue Jays so he is their ace in our game. However, they are our next pitcher match-ups because we play "what-if" format where we use the player cards unless the player goes on 60-day DL or is out for the season, or goes to another team.

Details of match-up and pictures of the Statis-Pro cards to be pasted below as we play the latest AL ace vs. NL No. 4 starter match-up using the cards in the free Statis-Pro game.

Below is a photo of the Mets line-up with the Blue Jays pitchers sheet underneath starting with Scherzer. Then below that is the Blue Jays line-up with Mets pitchers laid under them.

If a player had one of the 200 best WAR ratings when we checked last month that is listed by their name, and if a batter has exceeded projections by a wide margin then we've made an in season HR adjustment or vice versa. The player links are listed in the same order below with links to their sheet at Baseball Reference.

Here are the links to the Mets and Blue Jays with Statis-Pro cards.

Harper's 2-run 9th Inning Hit Caps Phillies 7-5 Win Over Tampa

Phillies Win. Bryce Harper's 2-run single in the 9th gave the Phillies' insurance with a 7-3 lead over Tampa and they needed it, as the Rays put together four 9th inning singles including two doubles and chasing all three PB 2-8 relievers. That left a PB 4-7 (average) reliever Tanner Banks to close out the game.

The Phillies exploded in the first with single by Kyle Schwarber, RBI-double by Trea Turner, and 2-run homer by Max Kepler to make it 3-0. However, after our last Statis-Pro game yielded only three hits there were 24 combined hits in this 7-5 Phillies wins. The Rays No. 9 hitter Matt Thaiss was the only player on either team with three hits in the game, including an RBI single in the 5th inning to get the Rays on the Board, and then an RBI-double in the 9th to chase the last PB 2-8 reliever.

3 Hits Total in Padres 2-0 Win in top pitching match-up

Padres at Mariners starts with two pitchers who rank 86th and 101st best of all MLB players based on WAR facing off.  Bryan Woo gave up only 1 run, and that in the 5th inning when the Mariners committed two of their three errors, the first during a throw to 2nd on a basestealing attempt and then the third baseman throwing away a grounder.

That one run was all that starter Nick Pivetta and closer Jeremiah Estrada needed for the shutout win, but  Jackson Merrill did add a homer later to make the final 2-0 Padres. This was a big win because this set of games we are pitching the AL team's ace against the NL team's 4th pitcher, and this is the first time the NL team has won that match-up with the AL ace winning the first five matchups. The next round we will reverse to have the NL ace.

Aaron Judge 2025 Statis-Pro Debut, Yanks Beat Pirates 4-2

Aaron Judge debuts in Yankee Stadium in our (free) Statis-Pro Baseball interleague baseball game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. If you use our optional in season adjustments, Judge's "add 3 HR" means his Home Run Range is now an incredible 22-34, so if the pitcher leaves it on his card then 11 of 64 random numbers are a home run. Since the next three numbers are pushed up to a 35-37 on a game in Yankee Stadium goes out of the park on an subsequent 11-46 while 47-88 is a deep drive with all runners advancing. The 88/NA means against a lefty pitcher an 88 is changed from an out to single and runners advance two bases.

Because we are letting the AL team be the home team using their better pitcher in the first game, so Mitch Keller will be the first to face Judge in the opener as he has to pitch against the Yankees Max Fried. However, in the second game the Pirates host with Cy Young candidate Paul Skenes against the Yankees Luis Gil.

We believe in batting the superstar first to maximize late appearances so here is the Yankees lineup starting with Judge:

RFAaron Judge
DHBen Rice
1bPaul Goldschmidt
CFCody Bellinger
CFJazz Chisholm Jr.
CAustin Wells
SSAnthony Volpe
2bPablo Reyes
3bOswald Peraza

Then here are the Pirates:

Bregman, Chapman lead Red Sox to 10 inning win over Devers Giants

Here is the set up with our 1977 quarter board and cards. The dime tracks the endurance left for the home pitcher, the penny for the visitor. Results to follow. After 3 Giants clutch defensive plays in the latter innings, Alex Bregman singled in speedy pinch runner Trevor Story's for a 4-3 Red Sox win in 10 innings.

Aroldis Chapman was untouchable in the 9th and 10th to record the win. We keep moat relievers to one inning or finishing one and pitching the next inning, but of a closer comes in for the 9th we let them pitch to the 10th if they still have endurance.

Devers vs. Better Fielding Red Sox in Statis-Pro Today

Finally getting the Statis-Pro baseball game on the desk after more than a week with no games due to a killer work schedule, and you can always follow what I’m doing at www.wisconsinffc.com when I’m too busy to play Statis-Pro or the Value Add Basketball game.

Since we are in our one interleague round our July 4 opener features the one big trade of the year. The Giants obviously add a great clean hitter in Rafael Devers, but the silver lining for the Red Sox losing Devers is in the field. With him out of the line-up, we can move a poor fielding second baseman card of Kristian Campbell to our DH spot, and move a fast and better fielder Romy Gonzalez into the line-up and to play second base. T

he new bat of Abraham Toro at 1st base and former Astro Alex Bregman – who is a major fielding upgrade for Devers at 3rd base and gets an extra HR number on his card as an in season involvement so we play now as a 26-28 homer range while Rob Refsnyder adding a homer to be 27-31 at least gives the Red Sox some potential pop in the line-up despite the big blow of losing Devers card. So weaker line-up but much stronger fielding at least. Here are the two sets of batter cards for this game which you can play for free at https://www.pudnersports.com/2022/11/status-pro-baseball-master-instructions.html.
