The Philadelphia Phillies felt the loss of Cy Young candidate Zack Wheeler immediately in our "NL East" final series. With him now out for the season (we do not use Statis-Pro Baseball cards of players who are out for the season). The Milwaukee Brewers hit three straight homers in a 5-run 1st inning off Jesús Luzardo en route to a 9-1 win after eight innings to claim SWEEP (3 games to none) credit in the opener for leading by 5+ after 8 innings. The Phillies did score in the 9th to make the final score a respectable at 9-5.
In the Phillies first 10 Statis-Oro games they had given up a total of only 24 runs for a league low 2.4 allowed per game - but the Brewers scoring 17 runs allowed moved his averaged runs allowed a full run to 3.4 runs per game.
Then in the second game they hit back-to-back homers in a 7-run 3rd inning to almost claim the double sweep, though the Phillies did score three in the top of the 8th inning to get within 8-6 to salvage credit for going 1-5 in the two games. That improved the Brewers to 23-13 to edge the 22-14 Mets at the end of play against Divisional foes.
Now each of the top four teams in each division will play all four of the top teams in the other division to get credit for up to 12 more wins - so the Brewers will get credit for between 23 and 35 wins by the end of the season. the possible range of wins for each team appears at the bottom of the column (East to the left, West to the right) based on how many of the four listed games they win to add to their total wins right now at the top - once again getting credit for 3 wins (if 5+ lead after 8 innings in win without using their closer), 2 wins, 1 win, or if they give up the 3 win sweep to the opponent then 0 wins.
As shown above, the No. 1 and No. 2 starter for each team will host a home game against a No. 4 and No. 3 starter for one of the four teams in the other division; and then their No. 3 and No. 4 pitcher will pitch on the road against a No. 2 and No. 1 starter for an opponent.
Once a team plays game, the "No. 1" or "No. 2" etc., will be replaced by the number of credits for that game - 0, 1, 2 or 3 - and then that tally added to the tally by the team at the bottom of the list.
Once the games are played the top team on the left (right now the Brewers) and the top team on the right (now the Dodgers) will get the two playoff byes, and the next best four teams based on wins tallied that way will be the wild card teams. Right now the Padres and Reds would be the two teams to miss the playoffs, but with the Phillies and Braves slumping badly after losing so much key pitching to season ending injuries, they seem to have the toughest defend to hold onto a playoff spot.
If the Dodgers do not clinch the West after going through those four games, then they can still go back and play the last place Arizona Diamondbacks to try to get up to 6 additional wins. That is why they could still finish with between 21 and 39 wins, whereas the Brewers can only finish between 23 and 35 wins.
In the 2-game series each reliever could pitch in one of the two games. However, since we will allow them to pitch in all our of the games, a pitchers with a 2 Max Innings Pitched allowed based on his Statis-Pro card can only pitch some or all of 1 inning, if Max Innings is 3 or 4 then he can only pitch part or all of 2 innings, 5-6 up to 3 innings. The starting pitcher can still pitch up to his full Maximum innings pitched in his one start in these final four games.
