Arozarena Singles in Only Run, Mariners Lead 2 Games to None

 The pitchers duel we expected in Game 1 occurred in Game 2. In the bottom of the 2nd, Luke Raley singled and stole 2nd, a great feat as catcher Ryan Jeffers used his TA to throw out AAA Julio Rodriguez twice. 

And that was all George Kirby needed in a 2-hit gem and 1-0 win.

Turner's 8th Inning Homer Gives Mariner statis-pro ALCS Game 1

 Updates to follow as we start out Statis-pro ALCS a bit late, and Justin Turner homers in the 8th to give the Mariners a 4-3 winner in the opener. He hopes to face his old team the Dodgers in the World Series.

Twins 2 Grand Slams; Sweep to Face Mariners

After six straight pitchers duels in the Statis-Pro Divisional Series, the Twins clinched their series in a slugfest. (Find teams here)

The Guardians took a 6-3 lead in the top of the 5th, keyed by Jose Ramirez 2-run double. 

However, with two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the 5th, Trevor Larnach delivered the blow of the game with a Grand Slame home run to make it 7-6 Twins. However, Ramirez hit another RBI double in the top of the 6th and then scored to make it 8-7 Guardians.

Not be be outdone, the Twins loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the 6th, and with one out Carlos Santana drove a ball deep to centerfield on a Z-play. Tyler Freeman made a heroic effort for a game saving catch, but was injured colliding into the centerfield wall and the ball bounced around for an in-the-park Grand Slam home run to put the Twins back on top 12-8. 

A 2-run homer by Edouard Julien capped the scoring for a 14-8 Twins win and a 3-game sweep of the series.

Minnesota now plays Seattle in a best-of-7 Statis-Pro ALCS, and the winner plays the Los Angeles Dodgers, who have already won the NLCS.

Mariners Advance on J-Rods Steals and Woo's Final 4 IP

After advancing past the New York Yankees on two walk-off homers without ever otherwise leading the best-of-three series, the Seattle Mariners won a decisive Game 4 in a 2-1 win in the 10th inning despite being held to only two hits in the game.

The Mariners took advantage of a weak catcher's throwing arm (T-C for throwing arm C) as Julio Rodríguez walked in the sixth inning, then used his AAA Speed (best rating and rare in Statis-Pro baseball) to steal 2nd and 3rd base before using his On-base Running (OBR A) to race home on a sacrifice fly by Randy Arozarena to tie the game 1-1. 

In the 10th inning, Cal Raleigh drew a walk, Sam Haggerty pinch ran and stole 2nd and 3rd base, then also raced home on a sac fly by Mitch Garver to end the game and the series 2-1. The Mariners only two hits were in the 4th inning, and did not result in a run.

The key to the series was the Mariners' 2.50 team ERA,closed out by four perfect innings by 24 year old Bryan Woo in his first appearance of the series. Woo will have the best Statis-Pro card on the team next year after an incredible 2.89 ERA in 22 starts in the reason season with an incredible 101 strikeouts to only 13 walks and 9-3 mark. His projected card for this season was a solid PB 2-7,but that still left him out of our 4-man Statis-Pro rotation, but in this simulated game he pitched as though he were already using the new card with 12 straight batters retired.

The win gave the Mariners three straight wins to advance after losing the opener. They now face the winner of the Guardians-Twins series, and the winner of that series gets the LA Dodgers who already won our Statis-Pro NL series.

The Cardinals won Game 1 of the series, as they and the Mets played in the Statis-Pro AL this season due to some juggling, while all other NL teams played in our Montana league and these games were played in our Milwaukee league.

Seattle Evens Statis-pro series

 

After a long election related delay, our Statis-pro playoffs resumed.

Seattle earned a split of the two games in St. Louis with this 4-1 win on an RBI double by Cal Raleigh then 2-run homer in the 4th off Miles Mikolas who had started the game with three perfect innings.

The rest of the best of 5 will be in Seattle.

The winner plays the Minnesota-Cleveland winner, the the winner of that gets the LA Dodgers who have been patiently waiting.

 NLCS—Dodgers vs Phillies - Complete game-by-game series

Game 1

The Phillies came out firing to take the early lead. Bryson Stott hit a 3-run homer and Alec Bohm also went deep to chase the Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw after just four innings. Bohm  (2-4, 2 HR, 3 RBI's) added a second homer in the eighth to give the Phillies a 6-3 lead. All season the Phillies had been plagued by poor starting pitching (4.95 team ERA, next to last in the league), but they did have a solid bullpen. But setup man Jeff Hoffman got roughed up in the eighth when Max Muncy (2-5, 3 RBI's) doubled in a run, then Shohei Ohtani, who was 0-3 with three strikeouts, launched a 2-run homer to tie it 6-6. The game went to extra innings and the Phillies brought in Jose Alvarado to pitch the 11th. He did not allow an earned run in 16 appearances during the regular season. Another unlikely playoff hero emerged when Tommy Edman ripped a rare walk off triple to win it for LA 7-6 in 11 innings.

Game 2

The Phillies poor starting pitching continued to haunt them in game two. Taijuan Walker only lasted three innings and gave up six earned runs. Max Muncy hit a 3-run HR, and Shohei Ohtani added a solo shot. The Dodgers tacked on two more runs, while Tyler Glasnow was good enough (5 IP, 3 ER) to get the win. The Phillies added some late runs to make the final 8-5. LA leads series 2-0.

Game 3

A pitchers duel marked this game. Phillies ace and Statis-Pro Cy Young winner Zack Wheeler (winner of 13-straight decisions) went seven strong innings only allowing one earned run. But Jack Flaherty was equal to the task going 6 1/3 innings and allowing just one run. For the second time in three games they went to extra innings. The Phillies were ready to get back in the series when JT Realmuto led off the bottom of the 10^th with a triple. But Alex Vesia got a strikeout, pop up, and ground out to escape. The next inning Max Muncy crushed a 2-run homer and the Dodgers held on to win 3-1 in 11 innings and take a commanding 3-0 series lead.

Game 4

Another crazy back and forth game as the Phillies faced elimination. Four lead changes in the first five innings. Alec Bohm continued his big series going 2-3, 2B, 3 RBI's, and Nick Castellanos went 3-4, 2B, HR, 2 RBI's. But the Dodgers scratched out RBI singles from Teoscar Hernandez and Tommy Edman and kept it close with Philly leading 6-5 after five innings. This time the bullpen held up shutting out the Dodgers over the final four innings. Phillies added an insurance run and won 7-5. Dodgers still lead the series 3-1.

Game 5

It was time for Tommy Edman to complete his incredible run. In the fourth inning he broke the scoreless tie with a clutch 2-out 3-run homer to make it 3-0. He then crushed the Philly hopes with a 2-run shot in the sixth to make it 5-0. The Phillies did fight back with another Nick Castellanos home run, but it was not enough. The Dodgers hold on for the 5-3 win and take the best of seven series 4-1.
