AL Statis-Pro 2025 Season Updates, Standings, All-Stars and Leaders

We last published updated Statis-Pro Cards for the All-Stars actually chosen by MLB, but the All-Stars listed below are the players chosen by the Montana Commissioner of this years Statis-Pro AL league. The stats below are therefore the stats in his first 40 games he has played for each team.

He provided the All-Stars, a wrap-up of a very balanced season that is playing out in the game.

Below that he lists the leaders in a number of stats - he keeps much more than I do in my NL Statis-Pro season.

Statis-Pro AL All-star starters:

C- Cal Raleigh, Sea                      [.206 avg, .754 OPS, 12 HR, 28 RBI, 40 games]

1B- Jake Burger, Tex                    [.258 avg, .823 OPS, 11 HR, 28 RBI, 38 games]

2B- Michael Massey, KC             [.333 avg, .856 OPS,   4 HR, 23 RBI, 39 games]

SS- Gunnar Henderson, Bal       [.358 avg, 1.160 OPS, 17 HR, 41 RBI, 41 games]

3B- Jazz Chisholm Jr, NY             [.248 avg, .772 OPS, 10 HR, 19 RBI, 38 games]

OF- Aaron Judge, NY                    [.323 avg, 1.155 OPS, 16 HR, 39 RBI, 41 games]

OF- Victor Robles, Sea                [.352 avg, .915 OPS, 4 HR, 22 RBI, 32 games]

OF- Steven Kwan, Cle                  [.310 avg, .882 OPS, 7 HR, 25 RBI, 40 games]

DH- Yordan Alvarez, Hou            [.329 avg, .929 OPS, 7 HR, 24 RBI, 40 games]
SP- Tarik Skubal, Det                   [7-2, 1.24 ERA, 71 IP, 99 K, 4 BB, 0.79 WHIP, .198 BAA, 11 starts]

Parity remains the rule for the standings.

Even playing the “what if” scenario (not acknowledging real life injuries, just in the board game), standings remain tight.

Only three games separate the entire playoff field currently.

Recent slumps from the Orioles and Guardians have tightened the races.

The Astros and Rangers are in the midst of 4-game losing streaks so they aren’t gaining much ground.

As for interleague play, at one point the AL held a 13-game advantage, but the NL has closed it to 52-51.

The Seattle Mariners (20-20) are currently out of the playoffs, but could easily win the division and a first round bye with a strong finish.

We shall see if the trade deadline wreaks havoc, since buyers/sellers don’t always match the Statis-Pro standings.

As for individual awards, here are the contenders.

AL MVP:

Gunnar Henderson of Baltimore is putting a strong challenge to Aaron Judge of the Yankees this season.

We’ll see if Judge can regain the top spot in many of the major offensive categories.

AL Cy Young:

Tarik Skubal of Detroit remains the front runner, but his last four starts have brought him back to the pack.

Both Zach Eflin of Baltimore and Jacob deGrom of Texas are putting up impressive numbers and challenging him.

Note: The one problem with the original game that still plays out in most Statis-Pro cards made to this day is that the pitching charts to determine how many walks et al should be on the cards were always way off for PB 2-8 and 2-9 cards. The game inventors set up the charts to actually have FEWER walks and MORE strikeouts on PB 2-9 and PB 2-8 cards for the same ratios, but actually the opposite should have happened because for those cards the action is on their cards 83% of the time (PB 2-9) and 67% (PB 2-8) compared to 50% for the average pitcher cards. That means while putting only a couple of walk numbers on the average card will yield the correct number of walks over the course of a season, having only a couple of walk numbers on a PB 2-8 or PB 2-9 yields way too few walks over the course of the season. For that reason the number of walks for great, control starting pitchers are way too low even though they are dominant.
