Misiorowski vs Cease All-Star Match-up in Next Statis-Pro Game

We finally plan to get in another Statis-Pro game this weekend, to start our Group E pool play. Each 3-team pool allows four starters from each team to start - two against one team and two against another.

San Francisco will sit out the first game in this pool play, leaving an All-Star match up of the Brewers Jacob Misiorowski against the Blue Jays Dylan Cease - both PB 2-9 pitchers. Cease actually projected more strikeouts for the season as both their cards are now dominant and it could take manufacturing some runs.

Below shows what it looks like to go to the batters and pitchers google sheet and select only the area to print for each team.

Luis Lara is the exciting new player on the batters side. Even though he has only two games and eight at bats going into the game, hit projections and Statis-Pro card make him a potential star already and the Last Word on Sports site believes he could be the NL Rookie of the Year as outlined in this piece.

Lara is only 21 years old and has 24 steals in the half season at Nashville (Triple A) to follow-up on 44 steals at the Double A level last year. He also hit 9 homers in the half year at Nashville with and defensive ratings are good and definitely some long-term power potential to be hitting that many homers in a half year at 21 years old. Here is what the four screens looked like as I printed the batters and pitchers for both teams.

Statis-Pro Batters Cards and Rosters Updated through All-Star Break

After updating the Statis-Pro 2026 projected pitchers' cards and rosters, we have not updated the 2026 projected batters. The following information is on some of the batters cards on that link, showing the team each players for as well as where we suggest the bat in the order.

The first 10 players listed are among the new cards we made for players now on rosters who we recommend for the starting line-up. They are listed in order of team. Then we list all the All-Star batters' cards.

In addition to their team and where we recommend their Statis-Pro card appears in the line-up from 1 to 9, we then list their position before their name.

We then list what numbers are automatic home runs on their cards - where the random number can be any of the 64 numbers from an 11 to 88 in Statis-Pro baseball on a base 8 system. So the White Sox new card Braden Montgomery of 27-32 is four home run numbers, and every player has three more numbers after those that are DEEP drives and may or may not go out of the park - so for him that happens on a 33-35.

We then list the speed of each player - their ability to steal bases, and All-Stars Pete Crow-Armstrong and Bobby Witt Jr. have the very rare AA steal rating. On of the 10 new cards - the Cleveland Guardians Kahlil Watson has an A, and those ratings go all the way down to an E meaning they never steal.

We also list the projected OPS based on the batters' cards.

Pitcher Ratings Updated for Statis-Pro Baseball Prior to All-Star Game

Both Commissioners who have rotated Statis-Pro AL and NL seasons since the 1980s have been almost completely sidelined from this Statis-Pro baseball season by work demands. We have managed only a few games this season using the 2026 projected cards, but in honor of the All-Star break we just spent time with a neat mid-season card update.

If you click on the team-by-team pitcher card sheets, you will see the neat updates after going through every pitcher.

We added a column so each pitcher is in one of four categories, and you can decide whether or not to use players in the first two categories; a) not listed means they aren't on the roster at all, someone like AJ Puk with a long-term injury. b) inactive. If a player had a projected card made beginning of the year but is currently inactive is included on the sheet BUT if they didn't have a projected card and are just inactive we do not make them a card. c) active, meaning they are on the active roster and even if they didn't have a card we have at least added their name. d) All-Star, and as a special twist we made every All-Star pitcher a PB 2-9, and if a pitcher was a PB 2-9 and did NOT make the All-Star team we lowered them toa  PB 2-8. More on that.

As you can see, Jacob Misiorowski of the Brewers, Parker Messick of the Guardians and Cam Schlittler of the Yankees were all only projected as PB 2-6 pitchers (below average) but as All-Stars they get huge upgrades to a PB 2-9 card. On the flip side, a number of players who were PB 2-9 pitchers did NOT make the All-Star team, some due to injuries or just being a little off their pace from recent years, so we downgraded them just one spot to a PB 2-8 - just meaning they go from the top 5% of all pitchers to the top 15% of all Statis-Pro pitchers cards. Here are the cards impacted either way.

And the bottom table is of the top new cards created - those who were a PB 2-8 or PB 2-7 for a player who did not have a card yet and all new cards appear in blue.

You can click here to play your own Statis-Pro baseball game either between 60 all-time great teams or the projected cards for the 2026 teams.

Marlins Confirm 1-0 Win Over Yankees

Group A - Dodgers living up to their by far the best status.

Dodgers 2-0, 20-5 run differential

Nationals 0-1, 0-4 run differential

Athletics 0-1, 5-16 run differential

Group B - interesting we talked about was a shocker the Red Sox opening win was against the Braves, but when we looked at the ESPN preseason rankings they actually had the Red Sox above the Braves, so perhaps not so surprising they beat them using projected cards.

Red Sox 1-0, 8-1 runs

Rangers 0-0, 0-0 runs

Braves 0-1, 1-8

Group C - Likewise in ESPN preseason the Mets were 6th and the Yankees 3rd, so not a huge update, and of course the Marlins upset was big but they likewise eliminted the Mets last game of the season last year.

New York Mets 1-0 (scoring margin 6-3)

Miami Marlins 1-0 - (margin 1-0)

New York Yankees 0-2 (scoring margin 3-7)

Group D - Tampa was ranked No. 5 in MLB so no surprise to see them atop so far.

Tampa 1-0, runs 3-0

Cincinnati 1-1, runs 4-3

Houston 0-1, runs 0-4

Group C Update

The Yankees got a 2nd chance to avoid an 0-2 start in pool play when realized the Milwaukee rather than Miami pitching staff has been used against them in Cole's ultimate hard luck loss 1-0 on an unearned run.

Anazingly ...

arlins lefty ace Braxton Garrett repeated the shut out with the help of three actual relievers.

The Yankees only chance to adcance from the 3-team poll is now if the Marlins and Mets split their two games, and then the Yankees beat them both and win the tiebreaker by allowing the fewest runs in pool play. The Yankees get to go against both No. 4 pitchers since they faced both aces.

Shocker! Red Sox Bomb Sale and Braves 8-1

Chris Sale lasted only lasted 3 innings in a duel between 2 of the best Statis-pro pitching cards as the huge underdog Red Sox stunned the Braves.

Post script

The post above was the original June 7 post on iur shocking result of one of our first games with this seasons cards, causing some to wonder.

Not that the Red Sox have won 12 in a row to get above .500 a blow out win is much more logical.

Mcclanahan Shuts Down Reds 3-0 (7 IP, 1 hit, 15k); Rays Diaz and Simpson HR

The Rays win rheir forst of 4 pool games so standingd are:

Tampa 1-0, runs 3-0

Cincinnati 1-1, runs 4-3

Houston 0-1, runs 0-4

The winner of all 9 3-team pools advance to one of thres semifinal 3-team pods, then those 3 to the Championship 3-team pod. 4-game record tie-breakers are head to head, runs allowed then run dofferential.

The Reds lost two players to injuries who will have to miss the second game if the series as well. Tyler Stephenson was hit by a foul tip, while Dane Myers ran into the wall in an inside the park homer by Candler Simpson. Yandy Diaz hit a solo homer.

De La Cruz, Burns Give Reds 4-0 Opening Win Over Astros

Elly De La Cruz generated the only run of the first six innings when he walked, stole,.and then adcanced on two grounders including beating a throw home by Jeremy Pena. He then broke the game open with a 2-out rbi single to start a rally that gave the Reds a 4-0 win over the Astros to open Statis-Pro pool play.

You can play your own games by printing teams from the PITCHERS google sheet and BATTERS google sheet and if you don't have a Statis-Pro game then click here for everything you need to play.

Chase Brown won the battle of aces with six scoreless innings with 6 baserunners and 9 strikeouts. The normally shaky bullpen made it hold up, though Jake Meyers 2nd hit of the game and Yordan Alvarez hit by pitch out the tying run on deck with no outs before Jose Altuve's popout and Yainer Diaz double play grounder ended the game.

Ke'Bryan Hayes had 3 if the Reds 9 hits though Astros Hunter Brown was the hard luck loser as he trailed only 1-0 with 2 outs in the 7th before De La Cruz's RBI single chased him.

The Reds now play the pool favored Tampa Bay Rays with their other strong pitcher Hunter Greene to face Rays ace Shane McClanahan - a lefty who will face Dave Myers instead of Friedl.

Pregame

We plan to finally play only our 4th Statis-Pro game of the season tonight.

Dominant Reds pitcher Chase Burns (top left) projected as a good pb 2-7 card but no where near as dominant as the pb 2-9 he would be if we made his card based on this season. But he only allows hits on 11-21 (range goes to 88).

The Astros Yordan Alvarez is thinking MVP and triple crown in the real season, and is an almost as good 28-35 home run range. In Cincy, his deep drives on 36-38 will go out if the park on a subsequent 11-53.

Astros ace Hunter Brown, actually just recovering from an injury,  is slightly better at pb 2-8 but gives up more hits as 11-23.

Elly De La Cruz isnt near Alvarez in OPS (0.807 to 0.954) but his elite A-AA speed and top defensive rating for a shortstop (E2, CD5) may make him as valuable as the slow DH Alvarez (E-D).

Game results if we get it in tonight.
