Braves Tied Best Record Since June 8 and Best Weighted Statis-Pro Record

We noted in an earlier post that while the Braves started this actual MLB season as the coldest team in baseball, they have actually started our Statis-Pro Baseball season as the hottest team - now at 11-4 in our weighted records (3-game sweep awarded for wins with 5+ run lead after 8 innings, and 2 games to 1 credit for closer wins). Well, since June 8 the Braves have tied for the best record at baseball with an almost identical record of 10-4 - amazing what having Ronald Acuna Jr. back hitting at an NL MVP level. Here are the standings as of 9 pm Eatern on June 25 counting games going back to June 9 - the Astros, Dodgers and Phillies are also 10-4 like the Braves, while the Diamondbacks and Brewers are just half a game worse at 9-5.

Shohei Ohtani Shines in 5-0 Dodgers Win, but Angels Take 8-7 11th Inning Win

In the battle of Los Angeles, the Dodgers dominated the second game 5-0 against a depleted Angels staff. However, the staff was depleted after going through every reliever that was at least average (PB 4-7) to pull off a thrilling 8-7 win in 11 innings.

Shohei Ohtani was the Dodgers MVP in a 5-0 win in the nightcap and in the 2-game series recorded a homer, triple and three steals to score 4 runs and have 4 hits in 8 at bats. He also pitched 2.3 scoreless innings after Clayton Kershaw faltered against an Angels team that is much better against lefties than righties.  However, the Dodgers came back from down 4-1, as Andy Pages earned Dodgers player of the game in that one with a 3-run homer that tied the game 5-5, but eventually LaMonte Wade Jr. led off the 11th with a walk-off homer scoring the extra inning runner.

We do score the 5-0 win as a 3-game sweep vs. the two games to one edge for the Angels in the first game in our expanded schedule, so this will be considered a 4 games to 2 series win for the Dodgers.

In the game below  Yusei Kikuchi registered 7 strikeouts in 6 innings, then the next day in. Real game he had a career high 12 strikeouts.

Printing out Dodgers and Angels Statis-Pro Baseball Teams

Here is the screen shot on printing out teams for a Statis-Pro baseball game. Because we are playing the two Los Angeles teams face off next, we can actually define and print from both the batters sheet and the pitchers sheet with both teams in order, so here is what that looked like.

Our match-ups include a Game 1 match-up of Clayton Kershaw debuting in the Statis-Pro season and facing the Angels Yusei Kikuchi. The Angels will see another lefty in game 2 in Blake Snell facing the Angles Tyler Anderson.

To play your own games for free you can click on the Statis-Pro Baseball Game and choose either two of the all-time 60 great teams or two current teams with projected cards.

Astros Survive De La Cruz 3-1

For the 5th straight game Elly De La Cruz was the Reds player of thr game. He led off with a single against ace Hunter Brown, stole second, but was erase on a clutch defensive play by his counter part Jeremy Pena who snagged a line drive and threw him out.

In the 9th he bunted for a single against closer Josh Hader, stole the Reds 4th base in 4 tries against weak armed Yanier Diaz, and this time on a wild throw came all the way around to score.

However that was it for the Reds, letting the Astros Mauricio Dubon's 3-run clutch homer in the 4th give the Astros a 3-1 win.

Interleague play starts with Braves-Tigers thriller

Our first interleague game of the year as a Z-play resulted in a downpour that delayed the game for more than an hour with Tarik Skubal on the mound in the top of the 8th throwing a no-hitter with a 2-0 lead. He has already struck out the first batter of the 8th despite his PB dropping from 2-9 to 2-8 due to pitching past his Max IP of 7. However, a long delay drops the PB by two more, so he would have been only a PB4-7 trying to pitch after the delay and the pen could not hold the lead.

However, in the 10th Zach McKinstry singled in the ghost runner to tie the game 3-3, then he told second and raced home with the game-winner on Jahmai Jones third single of the game to register as our player of the game for the Tigers. Marcell Ozuna is the Braves player of the game for his 2-run homer with two outs in the 9th to force extra inning.

Line-ups and highlights by player are below, with a picture of the scoresheet at the end.

Detroit and Houston 1st Interleague Opponents (vs. Atlanta and Cincinnati)

Our 2025 interleague play will start with a classic - Cy Young favorite Tanik Skubal facing Ronald Acuna Jr., who us finally back and hitting at the level of his last full season as MVP.

Here are the printed pitcher and batter cards for our first two interleague series of the 2025 Project Statis-Pro Baseball card seasons. The Braves and Reds will need to face two of the best in the opener with Tarik Skubal for the Tigers and Hunter Brown for the Astros against the No. 4 pitchers for the Braves and Reds. However, in Game 2 with will reverse with the Braves and Reds aces going against the No. 4 starters below, Reese Olson and Cristian Javier.

In other news Francisco Alvarez, who has a clean-up batter level card for the Mets, is actually struggling due to another hand injury and was actually just sent to the minors. However, we play ours as a "what if" season where we keep using players unless the go to another team or are put on 60 day DL. Obviously you can use players as you wish under whatever league rules you establish, or play with all-time teams that obviously never change personnel.

Statis-Pro Interleague Matchups Include Devers vs. Red Sox, Ohtani vs. Angels, Astros vs Reds

Having played two home-and-away double headers for each of our 12-NL teams using our free Statis-Pro baseball game, we will now play our one interleague 2-game series for each team before they go back and play the remaining three teams in their division. That will let each team go through their 4-man rotation three times between the five divisional series and one interleague series.

We use the projected cards for each player even if they are injured, unless they are on the 60-day DL, a nightmare for the Diamondbacks who are missing their ace, closer and set-up man from the only 0-4 team in our game. Right now, one of the three relegated teams, the Washington Nationals, have a better record than one of the teams we include, the Pittsburgh Pirates.

For each AL team we chose either their ace and No. 4 starter or their No. 2 and No. 3 starter just depending on cards we wanted to see face each other. We track the results and who started each game here.

We set up a couple of grudge matches, with Devers and Ohtani facing their former teams, and then the Astros vs. Reds since I am an Astros fan but by brothers and best friend who runs our NL League are Reds fans so it has been Reds vs. Astros forever.

Here are the next four games for each team and which pitcher will start for them, and then below that are the four games they have already played with who started and who their best position player was in the game with a couple of stats. The first time through the rotation it is the No. 1 starter vs the opponents No. 1 starter in the first game, then the No. 4 vs. the No. 4. Then in the second series we go No. 2 vs No. 2 and No 3 v No 3. However, to not make aces always go against each other, in this second time through the rotation we reverse for one team to even it out, so the No. 1s get to face No. 4s and No. 2s get to face No. 3s.
