De La Cruz Spoils Devers Debut with 1-0 and 12-9 Reds Wins

In our 20th Statis-Pro baseball game of the season, Elly De La Cruz spoiled the Giants debut of Rafael Devers by leading wins in our lowest and highest scoring game of our season - 1-0 and 12-9 Reds wins. We only have two 2-game series left, Pittsburgh vs. St. Louis and San Diego vs Arizona, before all 10 NL Statis-Pro teams have been through their 4-man rotation once. Click here for the results in each 1st start for those teams including the following for Cincinnati vs. San Francisco.

Elly De Le Cruz singles with two outs in a 0-0 9th inning, sole second, and scored when the Giants Willy Adames could not come up with a tough clutch play on grounder by Christian Encarnacio-Strand that went through for a walk off single.

It was the Giants debut for Rafael Devers, and ace Logan Web threw his max seven innings with only one hit allowed before the pen lost it 1-0 in the game in Cincy of the 2-game set.

In the second game, Cruz stole two more bases, but he hit a 2-run homer in the 5th and 3-run homer in the 11 inning in our wildest game of the year.

Devers had a 2-run homer in the first inning, but then the Reds held an 8-3 led going into the bottom of the 8th - meaning if they held onto a 5-run lead after eight innings they would get credit for a "sweep" win.

However, a 3-run double by Willie Adames and then RBI double by Matt Chapman tied the score 8-8 an dit took 11 innings to settle 12-9 for the Reds.
