The Arizona DBacks were down 2-1 going into the bottom of the 8th, in danger of dropping into a two wins and one loss with the Tigers and likely elimination if the lost.
If it had stayed that way the Tigers would have had a +11 run dofferential to a +1 for Arizona, meaning if both teams had lost their final or both had won their final pool game vs Cleveland, the Tigers would have almost certainly advanced.
The 5th and 6th hits of the 8th inning were both homers - by Lars Nootbaar and Nolan Arenado - and the DBacks are our 8th champion of 9 pools.
The final spot is a bit more confusing and will reauire a longer blog, but here is the Dbacks rally.
