NL East - Preview or What-if Season to Date

This blog includes summaries of interleague games which count in our AL Statis-pro season but do not count in the official NL Statis-pro seasons.

With  Major League  Baseball hoping that play an 82-game schedule, this blog covers the results of our NL East games using Statis-pro cards for current rosters. These cards and rosters simulate the projected hitting, pitching and fielding for each player on a 2020 team (including rookies and new stars from Japan and Cuba). 

These might be previews of an upcoming 82-game season or if MLB is unable to play it might become a "what-if" blog like our 2020 March Madness. You can also click on the AL West, AL East, AL Central, NL Central or NL West. We use ballpark factors.

Division Statis-Pro Results to Date

1. Washington 8-4
2. Atlanta 6-6
3. New York Mets 6-6
4. Philadelphia 4-8

NL East vs. AL East
Atlanta at Toronto won 10-8, 8-0. One of the most shocking series to date as leadoff Biggio reached 6 of 10 times and Guerrero went 8 of 10 with a 1.400 slugging percentages to get credit for a 5 games to 1 win and move up to .500 at 12-12.

Washington won 2-1, 8-4 at Baltimore.

Miami at Tampa Bay won 6-1, 2-0 (5 games to 1). The Rays are the best team in Florida.

Philadelphia at NY Yankees won 10-3, 2-1 (5 games to 1). The Yanks line-up and bullpen are both scary good.

NY Mets won 6-3 at Boston won 7-3 (series split 3-3). Red Sox might fall back toward .500 with key players lost (Betts, Price) and Mets pen looks like it finally really should have a great year - but so far both stayed right at .500 for the year.

• Toronto 2, NY Mets 1. Cy Young runner-up Hyun-Jin Ryu outduels Cy Young Inner Jacob deGrom.
• NY Mets 4, Toronto 3. Mets seemingly great pen nearly has a 2019 type meltdown again as Diaz strikes out the side after allowing 2 walks, then 2 hits and 2 runs. Former Yankee Dellin Betances with key Hold.

• Atlanta 8, Baltimore 4. Albies cycle.
• Atlanta 8, Baltimore 1 (sweep)

• NY Yankees 3, Miami 1. Cole went 6 innings for the win, and LeMahieu and Torres homered for the win. New Marlins leadoff and former Oriole Villar started the game with a triple off Cole and raced home (on base running and speed A) on a safe fly, but Cole was scoreless the rest of the way.
• Miami 3, NY Yankees 2. AL teams continued to struggle in this series of games with DH's on the bench in NL parks. Ford hit a solo Homer and Torres hit his second in 2 games, but even in this seemingly biggest mismatch the Yanks managed only 1 run in the 2-game series outside of the 4 solo shots. LeMahieu (clutch CD5) the day twice with with run saving diving catches for double plays but eventually the Marlins scrapped together a 3-run inning to get the split 3-2. 

• Washington 6, Boston 4. Kendrick (4 for 4, 2 doubles) and Soto (HR) picked up where the left off last year in the battle of the last 2 world series champs.
• Washington 5, Boston 1. Newcomer Thames' 3-run Homer showed he might replace the only player lost to the champs -Rendon. Former Astro Harris one of the top few relievers in the game finished as one of three great Nats relievers. Between those two and rookie SS Carter Kieboom and former Marlin and Yankee Starlin Castro, this Nats team looks slightly better than last year's champs we believe though some are picking them closer to .500.

• Tampa Bay 1, Philadelphia 0. Ace Morton and closer Anderson combined for a 1-0 shutout.
• Philadelphia 4, Tampa Bay 3 (10 innings). The as usual dominant Rays pitching came within two outs of consecutive shutouts behind Snell and relievers. However, with Anderson the only reliever above PB2-7 used in the first game, former Yankee Didi Gregorius blasted a 2-run Homer then Bruce added a solo shot with 2 outs to send the game to extra innings 3-3. Fielding was the difference in the 10th as Phillies catcher Realmuto jumped on a ball tipped into the ground and started a double play. In the bottom of the 10th Rays' 3rd baseman Diaz, a great batter but one of the worst fielder's in the game, misplayed a bases loaded line drive to allow McCutchen to score the winning run.
