Bellinger and Snell Best Free Agents Landed - All Statis-Pro Cards to Land with Teams Shown

We went through the 2024 Statis-Pro players who were free agents when we calculated those sheets, but are not on a team. The are now sorted and with their team on this link to all cards in sheet form.

Below are the players assigned today with some of the columns shown. Here are the pitchers first, in alphabetical order by team. Explaining the columns below:

Jordan Montgomery - now pitches for Arizona (Ari) and is left-handed (L). We recommend he is 3rd in the teams rotation (Rot 3) and has the second best PB rating (2-8). His endurance (SR15) allows him to give up a total of 15 of any of the following before running out of endurance and having his PB reduced for every subsequent allowed - subtract one of the 15 for every hit, hit by pitch and walk (and then a second number reduced for anyone who reaches one of those three ways and then scores) as well as 1 every time he is pitching and the inning ends. His Max IP is 7 - meaning that even if his 15 has not run out he runs out of endurance at the end of the 7th inning. His projected ERA is 3.89.

Jesse Chavez - And Atlanta right-handed reliever, who has the average PB (4-7) and instead of SR has an RR of 3, meaning he can allow only that many before getting tired. While his Max IP is 2, for relievers that is one higher than they usually pitch - they are just allowed to pitch in part of two inning if they come into one inning after runners are on base and conclude it as one of their innings. For relievers we list letters, and the D under Rotation for him means we suggest him as the 4th best reliever.

All these pitchers are now in red on the google sheet.

For the batters we will run through the column for the best free agent card assigned to a team - Cody Bellinger who ended up back with the Cubs. The "4" to the left indicates we suggest hitting him in the No. 4 spot (LU is line-up and 4).  He is a left-handed power hitter (LP) and his sheet gives him the standard platoon of 13/88 meaning he strikes out on 11-13 against a lefty but turns and out into a single on 88 when facing a right-handed pitcher.

He has a strong home run range of 27-33 on the 11-88 random number. All players then have three additional numbers that are DEEP drives that might go out - so we know those are 34-36 on his card. He does not have a ton of walks or hit by pitch - 51-54 and 55 - but does have very good speed at B/B - the first number being for taking and extra base on a hit and the second for stealing a base. His projected OPS is 0.770, and he can play 1st base (1B) or centerfield (CF) and has the best clutch defense of all (CD 5, CD 1 is the worst) and his throwing arm is the best at T5 and commits the fewest errors (E1).

A 10 indicates we do not recommend starting the batter, while a 14 means the player was actually on the team's minor league roster when we checked, but we believe they will play this season.

Twins Lopez Great but Scherzer Better w/ 12K, 2 H Gem, but 2 Pinch-runners Pull off Win

After aces dueled for eight innings, the speed of two Texas Rangers pinch runners gave them a 4-2 winning the 9th. Key notes for playing the Statis-Pro Game:

1. Speed on Bases Saves Rangers. For games played in 2023 or later speed is much more important, with the same stolen base charts used but any time the runner would be caught stealing on an ODD random number, he holds his base as well, and runners take extra bases much easier on hits due to bases being larger and closer together. The updated charts will be added below, but in this game that was key.

Max Scherzer left with a 2-1 lead after 7 brilliant innings allowing only 2 base-runners on a single and a homer, while striking out 12. However, Carlos Santana greeted reliever Kirby Yates with a homer in the bottom of the 8th to tie the score 2-2 and it took two pinch-runners to get the Rangers the win.

The Rangers finally took the lead in the top of the 7th when Nathaniel Lowe walked and with his E/D on-base running and speed, the fastest player on the team Travis Jankowski (A/A) came in as a pinchrunner, stole second base then scored on a Jonah Heim double for a 2-1 lead. In the top of the 9th another slow Ranger, Corey Seager (E/D) walked and Ezequiel Duran (B/C) came in as a pinchrunner. The problem was the light-hitting Jankowski was still in the game but he delivered with a single, and when Duran rounded and made it to third base, Jankowski took third base (the secondary base advance is a 11-38 for an OBR:A, 11-28 for B, and 11-18 for C). Adolis García's RBI sac fly made it 3-2, and Josh H. Smith added a double for the 4-2 win.

2. Deepest Drive Caught. Wyatt Langford almost gave the Rangers the lead in the 6th with a DEEP drive on his card that would have been way out if this were the game in Texas with the 11-64 home run range for deep drives, but his "37" was "caught over the all" in Minnesota where the range is 11-36.

3. Explaining the two aces. Minnesota's Pablo López projects as a PB2-9, the highest pitchers rating, so apparently has ace stuff and while not as dominant as Scherzer, went 6.2 innings allowing only 2 runs, though he was not as dominant with 6 hits and 2 walks allowed.

Scherzer was starting because Jacob deGrom is out for the season after throwing 12 shutout innings in the real season before being shut down. Scherzer is also injured in the real season, but because he is expected to return within two months - the line we set - we do use his cards for the defending World Series champs.

Note from the photos further down that we did also change the layout with boundaries  so you could better see the sheets of players when printing them out, so we believe you will find it much easier to play games now as you can see from the photo of our game setup. We also keep the pitcher of one team that is in the game just visible above the batters for the other team for easier play.

Updated Statis-Pro Team Sheets: Guardians Debut Upset of Orioles

The surprising Cleveland Guardians started just as surprising in Statis-Pro, behind seven innings of one run ball behind Triston McKenzie and two home runs by Ramón Laureano. A couple of Statis-Pro baseball game notes for playing including the updated team sheets at the bottom of the email.:

We included a few stats of interest in the box score - whether each player was right-handed or left-handed and a Power (P) or Normal (N) hitter. We included the key pitching figure for each player, their PB (whether the pitcher keeps it on his card with a 2-12 roll in his range or it goes to the batter).

Emmanuel Clase is a PB 2-9 (top 5% of all pitchers), the highest rating, and closed out the 5-2 win for the Guardians. Both starters were the second best, a PB2-8 (top 15%), with the Guardians Triston McKenzie beating the Orioles Corbin Burnes. No PB 2-7s (top 35%) pitched in the game. The other relievers were all PB4-7 (middle 30% and exactly half of all 2-sided rolls fall between 4 and 7).

There were no PB2-6, PB2-5 or PB2-4 pitchers.

We did also find the batters' cards were a bit hard to read so have updated the sheet of 2024 players to divide the batters into groups of 3 in the line-up for you to print out if you play.

While the Orioles lost, they kept it to a 2 games to 1 loss the way we record, meaning the losing team was within 4 runs at the end of the 8th inning. The Guardians had a chance to make it a 5-run lead and 3 games to 0 sweep credit with a 5-1 lead after scoring two off John Means in the 6th inning, but Tyler Wells saved the Orioles by getting out of the 7th and 8th with only six batters faced. Most relievers have a Max IP on their sheet of 2 innings, meaning they normally only pitch 1 inning but can come in during an inning and finish the next inning. However, Wells does have a Max IP of 3 so could pitch both innings.

Here is the updated format on the google sheet of players, once we realized the batters were hard to read. we took the info you need to review for a batter initially during his at bat and put it on the main sheet.

Then the other info such as fielding and speed once on the bases, we put on a second sheet you can just pull out as needed.

Set-up and All You Need for 1st Statis-Pro Game.

Here is the setup using our 2024 Statis-Pro sheets of teams and players instead of cards. You do need to print out pages 8-13 of these Statis-Pro instructions if you do not have a Statis-Pro Game. If you do not have Fast Action Cards, you need two 8-sided dice of different colors, two traditional 6-sided diced and a 20-sided die. (you can search and buy both on-line from various sources, but use dice in the meantime).

This is the next game on our schedule - Cleveland at Baltimore, but you can pick any MLB teams or the International Teams of the same players.  Deep drives in the first game at Baltimore will be homers on 11-25 and in the second game at Cleveland on 11-36. Gosh I remember when all deep drives went out of Baltimore.

6 AL Teams Eliminated, Scheduled Statis-Pro Match-ups for 9 Survivors

Because we do not use player cards of players on 60-day DL or out for the season, we will not use the injured Shane Bieber’s Statis-Pro baseball card and thus the Baltimore Orioles opening season 2-game series are:

Cleveland (Triston McKenzie) at Baltimore (Corbin Burnes) in a match-up of aces.

Cleveland (Gavin Williams) hosts Baltimore (Dean Kremer) in battle of 4th Starters.

We looked at the World Series odds after one month of play and there is a big gap between the nine top teams in the AL and the other six, so we play to play those teams in some initial series.

The only series to date was a quick Astros vs. Yankees2-game series back on February 22, with Houston winning the first game 11-4 and then the Yankees the nightcap 4-3 in 10 innings.

We play all 2-game series with each team throwing either their 1st and 4th best pitchers or their 2nd and 3rd best, so that when one team has played more series then the other, it is still an even match.  If you look at the schedule below, the teams always throw the same spot in the rotation except for when Tampa throws their 1st and 4th starter against Toronto’s 2nd and 3rd starter.

The players cards are all in sheet form on this google sheet if you want to play yourself.

We track the games on a grid and list of match-ups on this google sheet, and below is a snapshot of what is on the sheet.

Back to Statis-Pro Baseball: Orioles vs. Guardians

The Statis-Pro baseball projected 2024 MLB cards are still in sheet form here.  Some of the Baltimore Orioles and Cleveland Guardians cards are presented below for our next 2-game series. The HR-25 for Baltimore indicates that if a game is played at Oriole Park at Camden Yards a deep drive leaves the park on a 11-25 and the ball is caught at the wall with any baserunners advancing on a 26-88.

The suggested 9-main line-up is in bold, as is the suggested 4-man rotation.

The italicized players are on 60-day DL so we do not use those cards.

The red font indicates the closer, so the best reliever with the next best relievers in order after that closer.
